Break Bread’s mission is reducing hunger and building relationships within our community through free meals and programs that provide nourishment and friendship.

Nourishment means to cause to grow or live in a healthy state including having enough food and nutrients.

Friendship is an inclusive community of people who care for each other unconditionally. There are no strings attached. Ever.

Affirming dignity is a second chance, and a third chance, a fourth, a fifth…you get the idea. There is no hierarchy about who is “deserving,” and all are welcome to come as the person they are.

Inspiration names the reality that when we really listen to each other, something changes within us. It takes openness, attention, and courage.

When we let our guard down, and receive others openly,
we are able to form authentic, meaningful relationships.

Break Bread began serving free community meals in 2017, providing over 150,000 meals in the last eight years. More than a meal—we created a place where strangers became family, where everyone belonged, and where the simple act of sharing a meal built lasting community connections.
Break Bread paused its programming in October to reimagine how we can meet the growing needs of our community. We're planning to relaunch in 2026, but we can't do it alone—we need you.
